About San Diego
San Diego is the sixth-largest county in the U.S., covering some 4,260 square miles. Our population is more than 3 million - and growing. Indeed, in 2008 San Diego enjoyed its fastest population growth in five years, up 1.5%. So much for the myth of people leaving San Diego! Unemployment remains one of the lowest in California, 10.1% at the end of 2009 vs. a statewide average of 12.4%. And, housing prices are once more on the rise, posting the nation's second-largest growth: 11.2% in the second quarter of 2010.
In 2009, San Diego's Annual Gross Regional Product grew to over $175 billion. The military is a significant part of the local economy; indeed, San Diego County recently surpassed Norfolk, VA in having the nation's largest military payroll, hitting $11.2 billion.
Our city's outdoor amenities include America's largest urban park (Mission Trails Regional Park) and largest state park (Anza Borrego Desert State Park). Interesting trivia: San Diego is home to two of the three Interstates in America with single digits, the I-5 and the I-8.
With all that to offer, it's no wonder that San Diego displaced San Francisco as the second most-popular place to live and work in the U.S., according to a 2010 Harris Poll.
Despite its size, economic clout, and global presence, San Diego retains a laid-back, sunny outlook on life. As a result, the professionals listed here offer a remarkable blend of small-town friendliness and world-class capability. While some focus exclusively on serving the residents and businesses of San Diego, others do business internationally, over the Internet.
